Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi n’Tichka Pass – Telouet Kasbah – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate
Your journey begins early in the morning as you leave Marrakech and ascend into the towering High Atlas Mountains. The drive winds through the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, situated at 2,260 meters above sea level, offering dramatic views of snow-capped peaks and traditional Berber villages scattered along the route.
En route, you’ll stop at the Telouet Kasbah, a remarkable former residence of the powerful Glaoui family. After exploring the kasbah, continue through stunning valleys and arid plains toward the village of Ait Ben Haddou. This fortified ksar, made of reddish clay and straw, is a living testament to Moroccan history and architecture. It’s also a favorite filming location for major productions.
After a guided visit and free time to wander its winding alleys, you’ll proceed to Ouarzazate, where you’ll enjoy dinner and spend the night in a local hotel or riad.
Day 2: Ouarzazate – Taourirt Kasbah – Fint Oasis – Return to Marrakech
After breakfast, the day starts with a visit to the historic Taourirt Kasbah, an impressive palace that showcases traditional Saharan architecture. Then, explore the Cinema Museum, where you can discover props and stories from films shot in the region.
Your journey continues toward the Fint Oasis, a hidden gem nestled in the bend of a river and surrounded by rocky hills. The oasis is home to small Berber hamlets where life has remained unchanged for generations. Here, nature and tradition coexist in a calm and picturesque setting.
After enjoying this tranquil spot, begin your return trip to Marrakech, passing once again through the majestic mountain landscapes. Lunch will be served along the way. By late afternoon or early evening, you’ll arrive back in the Red City, marking the end of your unforgettable 2-day desert gateway.
