Day 1: Tangier – Chefchaouen
Your guide will welcome you at Tangier port or airport. Travel to Chefchaouen, nestled in the Rif Mountains and famous for its blue-painted streets. This peaceful town offers stunning mountain views, unique crafts, and warm hospitality. Overnight in a riad.
Day 2: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Moulay Idriss – Fes
Leave Chefchaouen and head towards Fes. En route, visit the well-preserved Roman ruins of Volubilis and enjoy panoramic views over Moulay Idriss, a holy city. Arrive in Fes in the afternoon to explore its ancient medina walls or relax with tea on your riad’s terrace. Overnight in Fes.
Day 3: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Midelt
After breakfast, explore the UNESCO-listed medina of Fes, famed for its artisan guilds and medieval streets. Then travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains to Ifrane, nicknamed “Morocco’s Switzerland,” known for alpine architecture and cooler climate. Visit the cedar forest to see wild Barbary macaques. Continue to Midelt for overnight.
Day 4: Midelt – Merzouga Desert – Camel Ride – Desert Camp
Cross the High Atlas Mountains and enter the Sahara region. Pass through the Ziz Valley with its lush palm groves and traditional mud architecture. Arrive at Merzouga’s impressive sand dunes, where you will mount camels for a sunset ride to your desert camp. Enjoy traditional Berber music around the campfire before spending the night under a spectacular starry sky.
Day 5: Merzouga – Rissani Souk – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
After sunrise over the dunes and breakfast, depart for Rissani to explore its lively souk (market) if it coincides with market days (Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday). Continue to Todra Gorges, a stunning canyon with towering cliffs perfect for hiking and photography. After lunch, drive through the Dades Valley, known as the Valley of Figs, and spend the night there.
Day 6: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
Enjoy breathtaking views of the Dades Valley and numerous kasbahs. Visit the Valley of Roses and the Skoura palm groves before arriving in Ouarzazate, known as the “City of Silence,” and visit its famous film studios and Kasbah Taourirt. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, featured in films like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N’tichka pass with photo stops. Arrive in Marrakech for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Marrakech – Departure
