Day 1: Marrakech to Boumalne Dades via the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs
After breakfast, leave Marrakech and head into the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the breathtaking Tizi Ntichka pass with panoramic views all around. Enjoy lunch near the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a stunning example of traditional Moroccan architecture and a famous filming location. Continue to Ouarzazate, the “doorway to the desert,” with an optional visit to its movie studios. Pass through the fragrant Valley of Roses before arriving in Boumalne Dades to spend the night.
Day 2: Boumalne Dades to the Sahara Desert via Todra Gorges
Start your day with a journey through scenic small towns on the way to the dramatic Todra Gorges, where towering canyon walls offer spectacular photo opportunities and a chance for a refreshing walk. Continue toward Erfoud, a town known for its fossil-rich surroundings, before arriving at the edge of the Sahara Desert in Merzouga. Here, embark on a camel trek across the magnificent sand dunes to your desert camp, where you’ll enjoy dinner and traditional Berber music under the stars.
Day 3: Sahara Desert to Fes through Ziz Valley and Cedar Forest
After watching a stunning desert sunrise, journey back via Erfoud to Errachidia for panoramic views of the Ziz Valley’s lush palm groves. Stop in Midelt, famed for its apple orchards, for lunch before continuing through scenic villages en route to Azrou’s cedar forest, home to wild Barbary macaques. Next, visit Ifrane, Morocco’s “Little Switzerland,” known for its alpine-style architecture and clean streets. Finally, arrive in Fes for an overnight stay.
Day 4: Fes to Chefchaouen via the Rif Mountains
Depart Fes and travel north through the Rif Mountains, passing picturesque villages and enjoying sweeping landscapes. Arrive in the charming blue-hued town of Chefchaouen by afternoon, where you can spend your free time exploring its narrow streets on foot. Overnight in a local guesthouse.
Day 5: Chefchaouen to Tangier via Tetouan
After breakfast, drive through the Rif Mountains and small villages to Tetouan, known as the “White Dove,” with its Mediterranean coastal charm. Continue to Tangier, a historic port city at the gateway between Africa and Europe, where you will have some leisure time before settling into your hotel for the night.
Day 6: Tangier to Asilah along the Atlantic Coast
Leave Tangier and follow the scenic coastal road to Asilah, a picturesque town known for its vibrant art scene and charming medina. After visiting its highlights, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. The afternoon is yours to wander the town’s historic streets before spending the night in a comfortable hotel or riad.
Day 7: Asilah to Rabat
After an early breakfast, set off for Rabat, Morocco’s capital city, located on the Atlantic coast at the mouth of the Bouregreg River. Stop for lunch en route before exploring Rabat’s landmarks, including the Hassan Tower a striking minaret of an unfinished mosque and the nearby mausoleum. Spend the night in Rabat.
Day 8: Rabat to Casablanca
On the final day, drive along the coast to Casablanca, stopping briefly in the coastal town of Skhirat. Visit the impressive Hassan II Mosque, Africa’s largest and the third largest in the Arab world, uniquely positioned overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. After the tour, transfer to your hotel and conclude your Moroccan adventure.
